Job Description

We are looking for a 3rd in charge (room based room leader) to work at First Class Day Nursery Monday to Friday 42.5/45hrs a week.



Weekly rota hours.



Our Nursery is looking for a motivated 3rd in charge to join our team. You must be passionate about providing high quality practice & care for our children.

Core Purpose



To maintain a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, reporting any concerns immediately - in accordance with safeguarding and whistleblowing policies

To promote a consistently high standard in all issues relating to care, learning and teaching in line with the nursery ethos and policies

To ensure the setting's high standards of health and safety, cleanliness and hygiene are met

To support the management team.

Qualifications & Skills:



To manage the nursery in the absence of the Manager and deputy manager.

Level 3 or above in Early Years and previous experience in a similar role within a setting.

A sound understanding of the EYFS and to be able to use this to plan activities for the children

Awareness of planning, observing and record keeping for young children and the ability to link these to the individual child's needs in the EYFS

Good Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding procedure

Ability to lead a team

What to Expect as a Senior Nursery Room Leader:



Provide stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments and resources to children. Enhance the all-around daily needs of children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development Promote respect and credibility for this position by leading as a role model with impartiality and consistency Assist with embedding an effective key person approach to enable children to form secure attachments and identify training or development needs for staff Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent and visitor at all times Understand and ensure that the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met Mentor and develop Room Leaders, promoting a collaborative and high-performing team. Oversee the wellbeing and safeguarding of children, making necessary adaptations to support children with additional needs. Foster strong relationships with parents, keeping them informed of their child's development. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding protocols across the centre.
