This is a 6-month fixed-term Healthcare Assistant role at the Jacobs Neurological Centre in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. The role involves providing care and support to individuals with long-term neurological conditions, using your knowledge and skills to help them along their recovery pathway. The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will join a supportive and inclusive team that works together to provide care to people with long-term neurological conditions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include ward rounds, analyzing behaviors and adapting care accordingly, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene. The environment can be challenging at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are important. However, it is highly rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you've made a positive difference in their lives.

Where you will be working
Location:
Gardens Neurological Centre and Jacobs Neurological Centre have a combined total of 132 beds on the same site in Sawbridgeworth (CM21 0HH), which is on the Hertfordshire and Essex border within easy travelling distance of London and Cambridge.
The two Centres deliver specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions, and brain or spinal injuries who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability. Recovery is assisted wherever possible, with emphasis placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life.
Each service has communal lounges, dining rooms, and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities with over 95% on single occupancy. All rooms are adapted to each resident's requirements according to their assessments and needs.
