25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for all administration associated with Research Degrees students, with specific responsibility for the administration of PGR students in the School of Creative Arts, Hertfordshire Business School and the Schools of Law and Education. You will act as clerk to any designated meetings and assist with the development and implementation of administrative procedures for research students. You will assist with all matters relating to the admission and enrolment of research students, administering the student records, advising students on non-academic matters and liaising with departments across the University, including Finance and Human Resources.

Skills and experience required

You will have good IT skills, be numerate and literate and be flexible and adaptable to team and workload requirements. The ability to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care, including a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner and the ability to collect, process and present complex data is essential. Tact and diplomacy, with the ability to deal with sensitive information with strict confidentiality is essential as is a methodical approach with attention to detail. You will be effective in a team setting, with a can-do attitude to problem solving and have the ability to communicate in a variety of formats to different audiences.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent, or proven professional work experience.
