The Role
In this role, you will support our undergraduate students as they learn in practical laboratory sessions, help them work in teams on applied projects, support them both online and face-to-face as they tackle programming assignments, and help to grade their submissions.
The role requires an active, experienced software developer who is eager to pass their knowledge on to our diverse community of learners. You will be a first-rate C# programmer who is happy building database-driven Web applications, understands modern approaches to software design, is confident in agile project management and wants to share your knowledge with the next generation of software developers
The team/The department
The is a large and vibrant school engaged in taught programs, research and innovation, and knowledge exchange. All our UG and PG programs are underpinned by project-based learning, which facilitates embedding industry experience across all the programs. The school is home to the multi-disciplinary team that composes the Smart Interactive Technologies lab, which focuses on innovative research and developments investigating all the aspects of modelling and applying physical and intelligent systems, which coexist harmoniously. The School is in the top ten biggest computing departments in the UK, with more than 2,000 students and nearly 100 staff.

Alongside our many connections with digital and tech businesses, we conduct our own work in industry. Steel Minions is our commercial games development studio, where students create and publish their own games on the PlayStation store. We also work closely with the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC), the Advanced Food Innovation Centre (AFIC), and the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime (CENTRIC).
Our students also work on live projects with businesses as part of their course, so there are plenty of opportunities to collaborate and set projects with industry, from Sheffield's many IT firms to the biggest names in computing. It's not just the students who'll be building networks and furnishing their CVs.
