Job Description

The Academic Workshop Lead is responsible for the development and delivery of a two-week Academic programme during which they teach a group of 5-6 students Mon-Fri. The workshop programme forms part of an academic residential camp for promising Hong Kong students aged 15-18. You will promote engagement with a range of subject matters as well as build long-term skills required for top-level university applications. In addition to leading sessions, you will contribute to the high standard of physical, emotional, and social care provided by i-Learner Education Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Develop a curriculum and materials for a programme of workshops on Critical Thinking, Academic Writing, School and University Admissions, Verbal Reasoning, and Presentation Skills. These are to be delivered over two weeks between 21/7-2/8/25 as part of a residential camp based in St Stephen's House, Oxford. Your accommodation and meals will be provided on site, where you will provide tuition on weekdays. The schedule will typically be 9-5, but the two excursion days will be longer. Outside of your teaching hours, you are expected to be available during any emergency that takes the main on-call staff member offsite. Help students prepare a final presentation. Coordinate with camp managers to ensure the programme and its materials are delivered to the standard and schedule required. Act as an in-person point of contact for camp management in relation to the sessions that you run, including feeding back any issues that arise throughout the sessions. Ensure all policies and procedures on camp are adhered to by yourself, the team members assisting you and the children in your care, including all health and safety, and safeguarding procedures. This may include implementing new procedures to ensure the sessions run smoothly and remain a safe environment for staff and children. Continuously promote the welfare of the children in your care and ensure the provision of childcare is always of a high quality to meet the needs of individual children from differing backgrounds and stages of development. Show high levels of energy, enthusiasm and professionalism, acting as a suitable role model for the children, parents and staff taking part in the camp.

Essential Requirements:



Experienced in leading academic workshops for young people, including developing your own teaching programmes and preparing presentations. Project lead experience, ideally within the holiday camp, childcare, teaching or coaching sectors. Excellent communicator, with strong face-to-face customer service skills. Candidates must be confident in their ability to talk to parents and colleagues. Good decision maker, able to quickly assess and make informed judgements. Proactive and conscientious, able to adapt to situations when required. Based in or near central Oxford and able to commute to St Stephen's House daily. Availability for the entire two weeks of the camp (21/7-2/8/25). Salary: 1,600 + 200 performance-related bonus
