Founded in 1883, Stockport County are one of the country's longest established football clubs. Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and have been based at Edgeley Park since 1902.
The team currently competes in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 2023-24 Sky Bet League Two title.
Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic
Tutor
to join our
Academy
team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and effective BTEC Sport lessons to U18 academy players at Stockport County FC, ensuring academic progress is maintained alongside their football development. The role involves working closely with the League Football Education (LFE) to meet national standards, while formally and informally assessing learners, marking work, and tracking progress against individual target grades. The post supports the holistic development of players in line with the academy's philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality BTEC Sport lessons in line with Pearson specifications and academy timetables.
Plan and prepare engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners, adapting content where necessary.
Formally and informally assess student progress through assignment marking, feedback, and progress tracking against target grades.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, progress, and achievement.
Liaise with the League Football Education (LFE) to ensure compliance with all quality assurance and reporting requirements.
Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety standards in all aspects of the role.
Essential
Must be a fully qualified teacher - PGCE/QTLS
Strong subject knowledge in BTEC Sport (ideally Level 3) and familiarity with Pearson specifications.
Ability to motivate and support learners balancing dual careers in education and football.
Flexible and proactive mindset, with the ability to adapt to the demands of an elite football academy environment.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and welfare
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools (verbal, written, digital)
Strong organisational and administrative skills
IT skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office and platforms such as Google Drive.
Desirable
Experience working in a professional football academy
Familiarity with the League Football Education (LFE) framework and quality assurance processes.
