The Service & Team:



Under the leadership and management of the Independence and Wellbeing Service (IWS) Leads the Access Assessors are the first response for Adult Social Care providing information and advice, connecting to other agencies, considering assessments of need and responding to information requests and concerns from the public, other professionals and external agencies via a variety of media - Including responding to Safeguarding Concerns.



The role:



The Access Assessor's role is to gather information and consider the most appropriate next steps which could include providing information and advice, signposting, connecting to other agencies, progressing to reablement or recommending assessment with a focus on maximising independence and wellbeing through social care and occupational therapy pathways.


The role is telephone/team based with information being recorded on computerised records. The successful candidate will liaise directly with a variety of people over the age of 18. We currently work from 8.45 to 17.15 Monday to Thursday and until 16.45 on a Friday and the post is a mixture of working in the office and from home.



What you'll need to succeed:



You will need a good telephone manner, excellent active listening skills, strong written communication skills and evidence of negotiation, empathy and diplomacy.


You will need to be self motivated with the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and stay focused in this high paced and evolving environment.


This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.


This position will be subject to a criminal record disclosure check.



Working Pattern:



We are recruiting for 1 full time (37 hours) Access Assessor to join a forward thinking team which is made up of a combination of different professionals with a variety of knowledge, skills and experience.


The work environment is positive, busy and one where staff are provided with regular support, supervision and training, as well as, career progression and the opportunity to be involved in the development of the team and wider service.


The location/work-base for this roles is in Mid Cornwall and we are evolving ways of working meaning that the role requires agility and the ability to work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations).
