hands-on accountancy work

. You'll be responsible for the smooth running of our internal operations while also providing experienced support on bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and technical file reviews.

We're looking for someone who understands how a well-run accountancy firm should operate, can think a few steps ahead, and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves when needed.

Key Responsibilities



1. Workflow & Operational Oversight



Manage the full client journey--from onboarding to ongoing service delivery. Oversee team workflow, deadlines, and task allocation. Maintain and improve internal templates, processes, and systems. Identify opportunities to streamline recurring tasks and reduce duplication.

2. Practice Management & Governance



Lead weekly operational reporting to the partners, including resourcing and performance updates. Maintain action logs, authorisation records, and compliance registers. Support pricing, quoting, and delivery tracking to ensure profitability and consistency. Manage internal communication and help drive accountability across the team.

3. Systems & Client Onboarding



Oversee onboarding of new clients, including AML and professional clearance. Ensure systems are used consistently across the team and documentation is up to date. Support internal training and process adherence.

4. Senior Bookkeeping & Accountancy Input



Provide oversight and support on bookkeeping, VAT, and accounts preparation. Review client files and draft reports for accuracy and completeness. Assist with technical queries or complex reconciliations as needed. Step in to support the delivery team where required to hit deadlines or unblock workflows.

What We're Looking For



Strong experience working in UK accountancy practices (essential). Comfortable managing internal operations and contributing to client-facing delivery. Highly organised, process-driven, and detail-focused. Able to work independently and communicate confidently with both partners and staff. Familiar with cloud-based accountancy systems and adaptable to new tech. The candidate will be technology proficient and confident with all systems.

Qualifications



A recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, or similar) is preferred.

However, experienced candidates without formal qualifications will be considered if they demonstrate strong operational and technical capability.

: 30,000 - 50,000 pro rata depending on experience
