The Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth is based in Hammersmith, where the central functions of the Congregation are all based, in support of our global activities. We have an opportunity for an Accountant at the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth Generalate (CSNG), based at Nazareth House, Hammersmith, London. This is a permanent part-time position.

To manage the finances of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth Generalate and report on the financial performance of the five regions.
Duties and responsibilities
Prepare and monitor the annual budget for the Generalate. Provide quarterly reports on financial performance to the CCE and trustees.
Prepare quarterly reports of the financial performance of the five regions. Liaise with the regions to follow up on unusual or unexplained performance.
Prepare and manage a cash flow forecast.
Prepare draft statutory accounts for external audit, including all supporting schedules. Liaise with auditors during the audit and at other times of the year. Arrange sign-off of the statutory accounts and submission to the Charity Commission.
Review the annual accounts of all other entities in the regions and advise on issues.
Liaise with investment managers, monitor financial performance and ethical compliance with investments and advise on changes to the investment strategy.
Calculate the interest due and monitor the repayment of loans. Arrange the payment of grants and compliance with any conditions attached to a grant.
Ensure the receipt of contributions due from each region and liaise with regions should receipts be late.
Support the Treasurer General to carry out her duties.
Process all financial transactions, including receipts and supplier payments, petty cash and credit card transactions.
Maintain full and accurate financial records of the Generalate on an electronic accounting system, including a cashbook, bank reconciliation and all double-entry transactions.
Ensure a strong control environment around banking actions and other financial processes.
Other duties as may be required from time to time.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Attributes:
A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
Proven experience of financial management and reporting.
Experience preparing statutory accounts and liaising with auditors.
Proficiency in using electronic accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector.
Experience working with investment managers or overseeing investment portfolios.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
High level of organisational and time management skills.
Discretion and respect for confidentiality.
