Job Overview


Clothes Aid is a market leader in door-to-door collections and works with local and national charities in mainland UK. We are seeking an organised, motivated and commercially aware accountant to lead our finance function. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is either qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification.

The post holder will work closely with the CEO and operations team to support decision-making with meaningful analysis, maintain accurate financial records and ensure effective financial control across the business. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your expertise in accounting software and financial management, contributing to the organisation's financial health and compliance.

Key Responsibilities


Financial Accounting



Preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. Monitor and report on key financial metrics to support business performance reviews.

Sage Accounting



Use Sage accounting software for daily entries, reconciliations, bank feeds and reporting. Maintain an accurate nominal ledger and ensure all data is input correctly.

Stock Control & Costing



Oversee the stock control system, order charity collection bags, track inventory movements and liaise with operations to investigate discrepancies. Support cost analysis and provide insights on stock valuation and cost of sales.

Forecasting & Planning



Prepare cash flow forecasts, budgeting projections and scenario analysis. Contribute to strategic planning with commercial insight and financial modelling.

General Duties



Assist with month-end processes and ensure timelines are met. Submit monthly VAT returns Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and accounting standards. Collaborate with external advisers, including auditors, payroll bureaus and tax advisors. Other accounting and administration duties as required

Experience



Person Specification


Essential



Proven experience in an accounting role.
Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).

Strong working knowledge of Sage accounting software. Ability to prepare management accounts and financial reports. Competent in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis). Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Effective communicator with colleagues at all levels. Familiarity with cash flow modelling and forecasting.

Desirable



Experience with inventory/stock accounting.
