At RSM, our consulting team brings together diverse advisory experts to deliver our six core solutions: business transformation, forensic, deal services, restructuring, finance function support, and risk and governance.
Our solutions are designed to address the unique needs, challenges, and opportunities our clients face as they strive to achieve their aspirations and organisational goals. Whether it's supporting global expansion, developing acquisition strategies, facilitating private equity investments, or collaborating with boards to manage risk and governance, our consulting experts work as one cohesive team. We prioritise simplicity, providing data-driven insights, value-added assurance, and high-quality execution to empower our clients in building sustainable, future-fit businesses.
About the team:
RSM's Finance Function Support solution works closely with our clients to optimise their finance function. By providing traditional outsourced and insourced operating models supplemented by deep technical, industry and digital expertise we help our clients navigate the ever-changing financial landscape.
Our London team is growing rapidly, driven by success in delivering insight-led finance solutions to clients in the Private Equity and Real Estate sectors. We are therefore seeking talented and ambitious Supervisors to help shape the next phase of our growth.
About the role:
As a Finance Function Support Supervisor, you'll act as an extension of our client's finance team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing bookkeeping, reconciliations, and preparation of periodic management reports and VAT returns.
  • Advising on finance function applications and supporting the implementation of new systems and technology solutions.
  • Providing on-site or virtual support where clients have a temporary need for additional accounting resources.
  • Maintaining regular communication with client principals, hosting in-person meetings (particularly for London-based clients), and building strong, long-term partnerships.
  • Supporting the preparation and filing of statutory accounts (FRS 102 / IFRS) and electronic tagging.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for auditors during the year-end compliance cycle and responding to audit queries.
  • Supporting the working capital requirements of your RSM client portfolio by preparing cost analysis, drafting bills and monitoring debtors.
  • Contribute to client pitch meetings, presenting insights and supporting fee proposals through data analysis and benchmarking.
You'll report to the team's management and director group, with active involvement in wider team initiatives and training programmes. You will also:
  • Supervise and coach Assistants, reviewing their work and supporting their technical and professional growth.
  • Contribute to team development, working with management to help drive continuous improvement and encourage a culture of learning and collaboration.
The type of candidate we are looking for will have the following:
Core attributes

  • Demonstrates ambition and a commitment to continuous learning, taking initiative to strengthen technical expertise and broaden professional capability.

  • Experience within professional practice, ideally in a finance function support, management accounting, or outsourcing environment for a minimum of three years.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP and/or IFRS, with sound general technical knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of core VAT concepts and experience in preparing and filing VAT returns.
  • Strong supervisory skills, with experience leading and reviewing the work of junior team members, particularly around bank reconciliations, bookkeeping and ledger management, and the accurate execution of payments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in client interaction and relationship management.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software, with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems and technology.
  • Has a strong interest in developing specialist knowledge within the Private Equity or Real Estate sectors, with a long-term ambition to build a career delivering finance function support and business partnering services to clients in these industries.
