The Role
The Accounting Manager will provide daily oversight of the Accounting Department. Responsibility for timely and accurate recording of all accounting transactions, and delivery of accurate financial statements and reporting. Oversee and manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Disbursements, Fixed Asset reporting, quarterly VAT returns, and Payroll Processing. With an acute focus on operations and people, the role will support day to day activities such as planning and analysis, variance analysis, and driving operational performance. The Accounting Manager will play an integral role in delivering accurate Financial Reporting and driving team performance. This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting operations and close
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, payroll and tax filings.
Supervise general ledger activity, review journal entries, and manage month?end and year?end close processes.
Manage and oversee monthly subsidiary financial statements and cash flow reporting.
Financial reporting, audit and controls
Prepare, review and analyse financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Support and coordinate quarterly and year?end financial audits, the annual corporate financial controls audit, and work with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process, including bank reconciliations.
Establish, review and update documented business process procedures for operational financial activities.
Budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
Assist in the facilitation of monthly financial forecasts (balance sheet, income statement and cash flows).
Support the Finance Business Partner (FBP) in monthly business reviews and prepare management and operational summaries and analysis, when needed.
Produce regular (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual) reports and perform ad hoc financial reporting and variance analysis for the leadership team.
Process improvement, compliance and other responsibilities
Assess current practices and procedures and recommend process improvements and controls.
Oversee business insurance policies.
Process project milestone and sales invoices, including credit control.
Provide support for other accounting?related activities as required.
Team leadership
Develop and manage accounting staff through goal setting, performance management, training and fostering strong employee relationships.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Knowledge of published applicable accounting and reporting standards (US GAAP/UK GAAP)
Advanced Excel skills and strong overall computer proficiency
Proficiency with accounting software
Knowledge of payroll processes and systems
Problem solving, documentation, research and resolution, data analysis and multi-tasking aptitude
Proven understanding of business process and reporting flows and procedures
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to interpret data and to present the findings to the relevant stakeholders in a clear and concise way
Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
Have well-developed sense of ethics and integrity
Comfortable assessing and managing risk and working in ambiguous situations
Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of building collaborative relationships
Self-directed and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities
Desirable
ACCA/CA/CME qualified
Public accounting exposure
Experience with Encompix or Acumatica is highly desirable
Experience with Pegasus Opera is highly desirable
Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
International financial reporting experience
