What is the job role?
We are looking for an Accounting Technician to join our Financial Management service, working with Finance Business Partnering teams to support the Council's financial responsibilities.
In this role, you will support the delivery of the Annual Financial Cycle including budget monitoring and management, budget estimates, final accounts, and financial control. The role involves ensuring accurate and complete financial information through analysis and challenge, supporting budget holders in meeting their financial responsibilities and providing flexible support to service areas.
You will also contribute to the preparation of financial accounts, assist with financial planning and analysis, and respond to ad-hoc requests for information. The role supports the development of financial models and promotes value for money and efficiency across the Council's operations.
The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:
Supporting budget holders and business partners to manage budgets and forecasts.
Providing timely and accurate financial information, analysis and reports
Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information through analysis and challenge
Supporting the development of financial models and responding to ad-hoc financial requests
Participating in financial training and development activities, and working to professional accounting standards
Contributing to financial planning activities and the preparation of financial accounts
Supporting the provision of financial information, guidance and advice to service areas
This role requires someone with a proactive and analytical mindset and a focus on continuous improvement, who engages proactively with stakeholders and colleagues to identify areas for review and development.
