Job Description

Job Summary:


The Accounts Assistant will provide comprehensive support to the finance team by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely financial reporting. This role involves managing both UK and overseas accounts, assisting with audits, and supporting month-end and year-end processes.

Key Responsibilities:



Stock Control & Purchase Management



Record and adjust stock levels accurately. Process write-offs for damaged stock. Match purchase orders with supplier invoices to ensure accuracy.

Accounts Reconciliation



Reconcile accounts for multiple banking institutions, including Clydesdale (USD), Invest Bank, and HSBC. Conduct monthly credit card reconciliations (AMEX, Clydesdale, NatWest). Manage petty cash and perform reconciliations for Head Office (EUR/GBP/USD) and Warehouse. Reconcile overseas accounts payable on a monthly basis. Manage accounts payable for selected UK suppliers, including monthly account reconciliation.

Audit & Reporting Support



Assist with year-end audit queries by providing documentation and explanations as required. Prepare and submit weekly cash and debtor reports during the absence of the Assistant Accountant. Prepare and process weekly wages when the Assistant Accountant is on leave or absent.

Xero Accounting Management



Full management of Gisela Home Limited in Xero: sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliation, intercompany reconciliation, and quarterly VAT returns. Full management of Scandilabra Limited in Xero: sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliation, intercompany reconciliation, and quarterly VAT returns.

Month-End & General Accounting



Manage schedules and post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets (including depreciation).

Requirements / Skills:



Proficiency in Dynamics 365 Business Central and Xero accounting software. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Experience in accounts reconciliation, stock control, and payroll processing. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Understanding of UK accounting standards and VAT regulations.
