Job Summary



We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support our finance team. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, processing invoices, and supporting month-end procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities



Key Responsibilities:



Assist with processing purchase and sales invoices in accounting software Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records Assist with record keeping Assist with posting timesheets in relation to CIS invoicing Prepare and post journal entries as required (In future) Support with bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring (In future) Assist in preparing VAT returns and other statutory reports (In future) Liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal departments regarding financial matters Support the finance team with ad-hoc tasks and administrative duties

Qualifications & Experience



Education:

GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English

Certification:

Relevant accounting or finance qualification (e.g., AAT Level 2 or higher) is advantageous

Experience:

Previous experience in an accounts or finance role, preferably within a maintenance or construction industry

Knowledge:

Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks), but particularly Xero.

Skills:



- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

- Understanding of Scottish VAT regulations and processes is desirable

- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
