Job Summary



We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting both the sales and purchase ledger functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with day-to-day accounting operations.

Purchase Ledger



Accurately process supplier invoices and credit notes.

Match purchase orders and delivery notes.

Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare payment runs and manage remittance advice.

Sales Ledger



Raise sales invoices and credit notes.

Allocate customer receipts accurately.

Assist with customer account reconciliations.

Support debt collection processes where required.

Cashbook & General Accounting



Post bank transactions and maintain daily cashbook records.

Assist with bank reconciliations.

Support monthly journals and accrual/prepayment entries.

Assist with month-end close procedures.

Other Duties



Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Support the team with ad hoc finance and admin tasks.

Assist with internal audits and year-end accounts preparation.

Skills & Experience:



Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role (minimum 1 year).

Strong understanding of purchase and sales ledger processes.

Experience using accounting software (experience with Sage 50 is an advantage).

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with data.

High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Able to manage workload independently and meet deadlines.

Professional, approachable, and a strong team player.

Desirable:



AAT qualified or studying towards (or equivalent experience).

Experience in a multi-entity business or working with high transaction volumes.
