Accounts Manager
to oversee and develop our Finance function.
We are looking for someone on a Full-Time basis (40 hours per week Monday-Friday with an earlier finish time on a Friday).
This is a Senior position within the company with responsibility for the company accounting function aswell as leading and managing the Accounts/Finance team, ensuring a highly efficient service is provided. You will be working as part of the wider Pendennis group and will work closely with the Pendennis Finance team and Group Finance Director. This is a hands-on role for an accountant who can lead a team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day finance operations.
Main Responsibilities to include: -
Lead responsibility for all accounting protocols and maintaining robust internal controls
Ensure compliance by the team to all relevant reporting standards, financial regulations and company policies
Liaise with internal departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions
Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment
Preparation and analysis of detailed management accounts, m/e close
Lead and mentor a small team of Accounts/Finance staff, ensuring CPD goals are met and the team are productive
Manage cash flow forecasts and Bank reconciliations
Supplier relationship management, ensuring efficient supplier payment processes and acting as key point of contact to external stakeholders and major suppliers
Oversee the accounts Inbox, and ensure it is effectively managed, supporting the team as required
Management of the payroll function (not administration), reviewing and validating payroll journals, PAYE management, ensuring compliance and liaising with HMRC as and when required
Uploading of payment batches to bank portal
Credit control
Stage Payment Invoicing
Assist with annual audit, preparation of schedules of information and being point of contact
Assist with grant applications/ claims as required
Management of Apprenticeship scheme funding/ liaising with Training Provider Finance Team
Monthly VAT returns
Analysis and review of all build projects, collaborating with project managers to explain variances on a monthly basis and validate the subsequent revenue
Reconciliation of monthly credit and purchase cards
Intercompany payments
Ensuring list of payments is provided to Group for processing on a regular basis
Proforma Invoice Management
M1 Management- setting up access, purchase order approval and any other ad-hoc tasks as required
Assisting Departmental Managers/ Directors with any Finance related queries
Identify and implement improvements to the function
Person Specification:
Minimum qualification AAT (Level 4)
Proven experience managing and developing a finance team
Hands-on experience across all areas of accounting
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - good with people
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Location
Primarily based at the Mylor Bridge site. You also need to be flexible to work at our other site in Ponsharden, Falmouth if required or Pendennis Shipyard, Falmouth.
Salary
Salary is negotiable depending on experience, in the region of 45,000- 50,000 per annum.
