THE ROLE_
Talon has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Manager to join our award-winning Finance team. The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee all aspects of the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, expense claims, and payments. This role will also manage a small AP team and work closely with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and adherence to company policies.
A DAY IN THE LIFE_
Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
Lead and mentor the AP team (4 clerks), providing guidance, performance reviews, and development plans.
Oversee the mid-month and month-end payment runs, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with company policy.
Liaise with Media Owners, resolving any payment discrepancies or issues professionally and efficiently.
Ensure proper coding of costs to departments, projects, and cost centres, particularly for overheads-related expenditure.
Reconcile AP sub-ledger to general ledger and ensure aged creditor balances are appropriately managed.
Drive improvements in AP processes and systems, identifying automation and efficiency opportunities.
Support in external/internal audits and provide documentation as required.
Maintain and improve internal controls within the AP function.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR_
Minimum 5 years of experience in an Accounts Payable Manager or Senior AP role.
Prior experience in the media, creative, or entertainment industry is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, controls, and best practices.
Proficient in finance systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar; media-specific systems like PMI or SAP for Media are a plus.
Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communicator, able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience managing and developing a team.
Confident, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-moving, high-volume environment.
