We are a growing and friendly accountancy practice based in East Malling supporting a broad range of small businesses and individuals with their accounting and tax needs. With a strong focus on client care and continuous professional development, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Senior / Supervisor to join our team.
Job Purpose
The role involves reviewing accounts prepared by junior team members, supervising and supporting staff, managing workflow, and preparing accounts for clients as needed. You will play a key role in ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with relevant legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Review statutory accounts, sole trader, and partnership accounts prepared by junior staff.
Supervise and support junior team members, providing feedback and technical guidance.
Manage and prioritise workflow to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare accounts and financial statements for a variety of clients on an ad hoc basis.
Liaise directly with clients to address queries, provide updates, and maintain strong relationships.
Assist with internal processes, improving efficiency and quality of service.
Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, Companies Act, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Work collaboratively with the wider team to support a positive and productive work environment.
Person Specification
Essential:
ACA/ACCA part-qualified/qualified (or equivalent experience).
Experience working in a UK accountancy practice.
Confident reviewing and preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
Working knowledge of excel.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to supervise junior staff and provide constructive feedback.
Desirable:
Working knowledge of software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Bright tax & Accounting desirable but not essential.
Familiarity with VAT returns and reconciliation.
Understanding of basic corporation tax principles.
