Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Accounts Supervisor to lead and oversee key financial functions within our Build-to-Rent portfolio. This senior role involves managing accounts processes, supervising finance activities, and taking ownership of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of management accounts. The ideal candidate will combine technical accounting expertise with leadership skills to support and develop the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise and provide guidance to junior finance staff, ensuring best practice and consistent highstandards
Allocate and prioritise workloads within the finance team to meet tight deadlines, particularly during month end and year end
Mentor team members, provide training support, and promote continuous improvement within the finance function
Tenant & Supplier Accounts
Oversee the recording and reconciliation of tenant payments, including rent, service charges, and additional fees
Raise and review invoices, ensuring prompt and accurate payment from tenants, landlords, and contractors
Process and approve supplier invoices with strong attention to detail
Complete and monitor daily bank reconciliations across all relevant accounts
Deposit Management & Legal Notices
Manage tenant deposit processing and returns in accordance with TDS regulations
Maintain accurate deposit records and ensure full supporting documentation
Manage the preparation and review of Section 13 and Section 8 notices, including financial schedules and arrears reports
Liaise with the legal and property management teams to ensure compliance and timely action
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and review monthly management accounts, cash flow statements, and year-end financial reporting
Support budgeting and forecasting for developments and the wider portfolio
Ensure financial transactions comply with legislative requirements and internal policies
Maintain accurate, organised financial documentation to support audits and external reviews
Administrative & Team Support
Provide leadership within the finance function by ensuring best practice and consistent high standards
Liaise with internal teams to support efficient financial workflows
Assist during busy periods and contribute to finance-related projects and process improvements
Experience & Qualifications Required
AAT Qualified or Part-Qualified ACCA (actively studying preferred)
Significant experience in an accounts or finance role, ideally within the property or Build-to-Rent (BTR) sector
Experience using Yardi (or similar property management/accounting software)
Strong financial reporting skills, including preparation and analysis of management accounts, cash flow reports, and year-end accounts
Knowledge of property compliance including deposits, Section 13, and Section 8 notices
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and numerical ability
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Clear and confident communication skills (written and verbal)
Proactive, collaborative mindset with strong problem-solving ability
