As part of the Resources and Digital Resources team, you will work closely with colleagues to ensure the efficient and timely acquisition and discovery of learning and research resources. The Resources and Digital Discovery team manages the development and discovery of our physical and digital collections and the underpinning digital infrastructure. The team looks after the library management system, discovery system, reading list system and associated technology; manages the procurement of information resources in both print and digital form and advises on copyright and the licencing of resources. The team also provides the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) Scanning Services, Document Delivery Service and manages the CCCU Research Repository.
Role
As an
Acquisitions and Metadata Specialist
, your role is to contribute to the efficient and timely acquisition of learning resources (print, digital, artefacts and subscriptions) to agreed standards and processes. You will support resource provision services, including reading lists, CLA scanning and assist with research repository submissions. In addition, you will create and enhance metadata records to established standards, conducting quality checks on catalogue entries, repository records, and reading list materials to improve discoverability and the overall user experience.
You will have experience of library acquisitions activities and working with library management systems and/or discovery platforms ideally gained from working in an academic library setting. Skilled in customer service, you will be an effective communicator and produce clear written material. You will have strong IT and numeracy skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams. You work well under pressure, adapt to changing demands, and use initiative to solve problems. You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and take a methodical approach to tasks, working independently within set guidelines.
