Acrobatic And/or Dance Teacher

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Acrobatic Dance Instructor to join our vibrant teaching team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in acrobatic dance techniques and a strong foundation in flexibility, strength training, and performance skills. This role involves guiding students safely through acrobatic progressions, developing their confidence, and combining acro skills seamlessly with dance artistry.

Qualifications & Experience



Essential

:

Teaching qualification in Acrobatic Dance (IDTA, Acrobatic Arts, AcroTrix etc.) Experience teaching syllabus and free work to children (age 3+) and adults, from beginners to at least Grade 5. Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check (we can help the candidate apply). Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.

Desired

:

Higher education qualifications: MA, PGCE, BA (Hons). Further Education Qualification: Level 3, Level 4 Level 2 (or higher) Safeguarding qualification. Locomotion can assist with achieving this. Level 3 First Aid Certificate (Locomotion can assist with achieving this).

Arrive punctually, dressed in the correct uniform, and maintain a well-groomed appearance. Be polite, kind, enthusiastic, and approachable, acting with professionalism at all times. Demonstrate a passion for teaching, performing, and child development, bringing energy and creativity to each class. Act as a role model, inspiring other pupils through positive behaviour, respectful communication, and focused engagement. Be organised, reliable, and self-motivated, showing initiative and completing tasks without constant supervision. Encourage student participation, attentiveness, and positive behaviour within the classroom. Treat all students equally and fairly, providing inclusive support and care to all pupils. Be understanding and empathetic when children share concerns, raising anything significant with the lead teacher. Work as part of a collaborative team, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to help others. Show a commitment to both student development and their own ongoing professional growth. Refrain from using personal mobile phones during any session or duty period.

Role & Responsibilities



The contractor will undertake work on behalf of the organisation and may not sub-contract this work without written agreement. As services and classes may evolve, the organisation may offer additional work, which the contractor is under no obligation to accept.

Lesson Delivery & Administration:



Plan half-termly Schemes of Works and weekly lesson plans for both examination and performance objectives. Deliver weekly classes in the acrobatic dance and conditioning for dancers. Prepare and deliver acrobatic dance holiday workshop. Source and edit music for lessons and performances using software such as Audacity or GarageBand. Create and use lesson resources to enhance engagement and progress.

Student Support:



Attend school performances, showcases, examination sessions, and work backstage to assist students (e.g. costumes, running orders, transitions).

Pastoral Care & Student Welfare



The contractor is expected to provide a high standard of pastoral care, fostering a supportive, safe, and nurturing environment for all students. This includes:

Creating an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where students feel valued and respected. Supporting students' confidence, emotional wellbeing, and self-esteem, especially during exams and performances. Being observant and responsive to signs of stress, injury, or social/emotional difficulty. Offering encouragement, reassurance, and an empathetic presence. Maintaining clear, professional communication with parents/carers when needed. Ensuring adherence to safeguarding protocols, including appropriate reporting of concerns. Working with colleagues to promote a positive and protective studio culture.

Pay: 16.00-25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 16 per week
