Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities and wellness coordinator to join our dedicated team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home specialising in senior care. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living environments, with a strong understanding of dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on residents' quality of life through organised programmes, social events, and personalised activities tailored to individual needs. The Activities and wellness coordinator will work closely with staff, residents, and families to foster a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment.

Responsibilities



Plan, organise, and oversee a diverse range of recreational activities suitable for residents' interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, outings, and social gatherings. Develop personalised activity programmes that promote cognitive function, physical health, and emotional well-being, particularly for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's. Coordinate with care staff to ensure activities are aligned with individual care plans and safety protocols. Facilitate group sessions as well as one-to-one engagement to encourage social interaction and community participation. Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback for continuous improvement. Foster relationships with residents' families to incorporate their preferences into activity planning and keep them informed about upcoming events. Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety standards, particularly in relation to dementia care. Lead by example in creating a positive atmosphere that encourages residents' independence and enjoyment.

Skills



Proven experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments specialising in senior care. Strong understanding of dementia care and Alzheimer's support strategies. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents of varying cognitive levels and backgrounds. Compassionate approach with the ability to motivate and inspire residents to participate actively in programmes. Organised with the ability to plan ahead while adapting activities based on residents' changing needs or preferences. Creative problem-solving skills to develop innovative activities that promote mental stimulation and physical activity. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing holistic care. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
