We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to join our team and provide engaging, meaningful activities for residents in a residential care home. The ideal candidate will have experience working within care home environments, with a strong focus on dementia and Alzheimer's care. Duties
Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, outings, and social events
Assess residents' individual needs and preferences to develop personalised activity programmes
Foster a warm, inclusive environment that encourages participation and socialisation among residents
Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities complement residents' care plans, especially for those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
Maintain accurate records of activities provided, resident participation, and feedback to continually improve programme offerings
Coordinate volunteers and external entertainers or organisations to enrich activity options
Promote resident engagement through effective communication skills, ensuring all residents feel valued and involved
Experience
Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or similar care environments is highly desirable
Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer's support strategies is essential
Experience in caregiving or working with individuals requiring specialised care, such as dementia or Alzheimer's, is advantageous
Strong communication skills are necessary to liaise effectively with residents, families, and staff
Familiarity with organising therapeutic or recreational activities for older adults will be beneficial
A caring attitude combined with organisational skills is vital for success in this role
