Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Activities Director to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents in an assisted living and nursing home setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event planning and experience working with seniors, particularly those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care needs. This role requires creativity, excellent communication skills, and a passion for engaging individuals in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and well-being.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents. Plan and coordinate events, outings, and recreational activities that foster community engagement. Collaborate with staff to ensure activities align with the care plans of residents, particularly those requiring memory care or assistance with daily living activities (ADLs). Facilitate group activities that promote socialization among residents while considering individual preferences. Maintain schedule management for all activities, ensuring adequate staffing and resources are available. Provide support and guidance to residents participating in activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment. Document participation levels and gather feedback to continually improve the activities program. Work closely with families to communicate activity schedules and encourage involvement.

Requirements

Proven experience in event planning within an assisted living or nursing home environment. Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and senior care best practices. Background in recreational therapy or social work is highly desirable. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members. Ability to assist residents with ADLs as needed while promoting independence. Knowledge of aging issues counseling is beneficial for addressing resident needs. A passion for caregiving and enhancing the lives of seniors through engaging activities.
