To organise planned group and individual activities for the Older people who reside at Winash. Although Winash is registered to have 32 Residents it is not expected that all these people would attend / be involved in all sessions. The aim is to provide activities for those Residents who wish to undertake them and to facilitate access to activities for any of the other Residents and to encourage Residents to attend.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
1. Essential Qualities / Experience
1.1 At least 2 years' experience in the care field

2. Essential Skills, Abilities and Experience
2.1 At least 2 years' experience in the care field
2.2 Experience in working with older people
2.3 An understanding of the health needs of Older people, both physical and mental
2.4 Able to communicate effectively / empathise
2.5 Ability to work as a member of a team
2.6 Ability to use own initiative
2.7 Ability to organise own workload
2.8 Ability to assess new Residents wishes with regards to the types of activities they may like to undertake
2.9 Well developed written, verbal & interpersonal skills
2.9.1 Flexible approach to working to cover activities / outings that may be arranged in evenings / late afternoons
2.9.2 Ability to cover annual leave / sick leave of other Activity Co-ordinators
3. Desirable Skills, Abilities and Experience
3.1 Experience of organising activities with Older people
3.2 Musical abilities - piano player
3.3 Artistic / craftwork ability
3.4 Experience in occupational therapy field
MAIN TASKS
1. To develop, implement and evaluate individual plans of activities for Residents
2. To visit each Resident every morning, let them know what's going on that day and escort them to activity if required. This time may also be used to have a chat with Residents and to ask how they are feeling, any concerns being reported back to the person in charge
3. To keep up the general morale and maintain a cheerful disposition
4. To engage Residents in Meaningful activity on a 1:1 basis for those people who don't engage with group activities in particular
5. To work alongside the Activities Co-ordinator who would take the lead role in panning activities
6. To be involved in organising monthly outings from April through to December.
7. To liaise with local community organisations who wish to provide activities / entertainments for the Residents e.g. Clevedon Ladies choir, Clevedon School etc
8. To organise and attend outings to local Community Centre for evening events approx. 4-5 times a year
9. To assist with developing an evening of entertainments for the Residents Christmas Party. The preparation usually involves spending time with those Residents who wish to do a 'turn'.
10. To be involved in Resident Committee Meetings which usually meets quarterly
11. Attend training as required i.e. Safeguarding adults, Infection control etc
12. To participate in any Inspections and to provide information to appropriate persons as required
13. To maintain confidentiality of Winash Staff, practices and Residents
14. Any other duties deemed appropriate as agreed with the Manager
