Job Summary


The Activities Co-Ordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in care homes. This position is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of our residents including those with dementia. The Activities Co-Ordinator will work closely with residents, staff, and families to foster a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction and well-being.

Duties



Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme that caters to the diverse interests of residents. Coordinate and oversee daily activities, ensuring they are engaging, safe, and accessible for all participants. Collaborate with care staff to identify individual resident needs and preferences to tailor activities accordingly. Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and outings that encourage socialisation and physical engagement. Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback from residents to continually improve the programme. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and encourage participation. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all activities. Provide support for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments through specialised programming. Ability to work within a set budget when booking external entertainment and events to bring to the home.

Skills



Strong background in care home environment is desirable but not essential as training will be given. Experience in dementia care is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members. Ability to organise engaging activities that cater to a wide range of abilities and interests. Compassionate approach towards working with seniors in care settings. Strong problem-solving skills to address any challenges that arise during activities. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
