Kelstone Court are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Coordinator to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents in a senior care environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning and implementing engaging activities tailored to the needs of individuals in care homes, including those varying levels of dementia. This role requires excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for caring for seniors.
Duties
Develop, organise, and oversee a comprehensive activities programme that promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being for residents in home.
Coordinate with home manager and care staff to ensure that activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of ability and cognitive function.
Facilitate group activities, such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and outings, ensuring participation from all residents.
Assess the interests and needs of residents to tailor activities that foster engagement and social interaction.
Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continually improve the activities programme.
Collaborate with families to encourage their involvement in activities and keep them informed about upcoming events.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all activities.
Being responsible decorating and managing special holiday such as Christmas, Halloween, in the home.
Managing and planning annual residents and family events, annual summer BBQ and Christmas parties for both families and residents.
Ensure external entertainment is planned for booked through out the year - working with the Home Manager.
Support Home Manager and Senior Management with other general admin related to residents well being.
Experience & Skills
Previous experience in senior care or a related field is essential, with a focus on dementia care being highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff members.
Ability to demonstrate compassion, patience, and understanding towards residents' needs.
Creative thinking skills to develop innovative activity ideas that cater to diverse interests.
A relevant qualification in social work, recreation therapy, or a similar discipline is advantageous but not mandatory.
Flexibility to adapt activities based on resident feedback and changing circumstances within the care home environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: 12.50-13.00 per hour
