MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



MISSION STATEMENT


St. Anne's Care Home was founded by the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Paul to meet the needs of the frail and elderly Residents, enabling them to maintain the activities of living in an atmosphere of care, peace, and comfort. In St. Anne's, everyone is treated with respect and his/her dignity as a child of God is affirmed and reverenced.

PROVISION OF CARE



Care will be provided by a team of staff within the Home, working under the direction of the Manager. Care will be provided based on a personalised and individual care plan. The care plan will be established, maintained and continually evaluated for each Resident to ensure holistic care. All staff will undertake a planned programme of induction and ongoing training to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement holistic care for each resident.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home.

To ensure that all staff contributes to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the Home and the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the best interest of the Residents.

Draw up a month activity planner to demonstrate what residents want to do, capture evidence of the engagement, record what is the outcome that is to be achieved, measure the satisfaction of each activity by providing residents/families with questionnaires to complete.

Organise the promotion of mental and physical activity of Residents through conversation with them, taking them out, hobbies and recreation.

Help Residents with diversional therapies suitable to their needs and abilities that will promote independence and well being and give them fulfilment in their day to day living.

To submit verbal and written reports to senior staff on individual Residents regarding activities and, where appropriate, pursue a course of action as instructed.

To understand the requirement for confidentiality in all matters relating to Residents and Staff team members.

To provide an efficient response to emergency calls received from Residents and members of Staff.

Comply with the policy relating to Protecting Vulnerable Adults.

Comply with St Anne's policies and practices including those which incorporate Health & Safety, COSHH an infection control, and may be specific to COVID infection or similar viruses.

Comply with the Social Media Policy.

There is a requirement to attend In-Service Education programmes and discussions when appropriate and/or arranged.

Be prepared to undertake escort duties outwith the premises where Residents require such a service, e.g. when attending hospital appointments, social events, etc.

To work in accordance with duty rosters, involving weekends and evening work where applicable.

Staff are expected to undertake other reasonable duties as instructed by the Manager and other qualified staff, e.g. helping at mealtimes.

Acknowledge any limitations of competence and seek advice and support as appropriate.

The above duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive and may be amended to suit the changing needs of the service.



ASSIGNMENT AND REVIEW OF WORK



3 months probationary period.

Annual appraisal from the Manager or Senior Care Leads.

Ad hoc meetings, e.g. sickness absence/return to work, as required.

Following a period of induction and orientation you will work to provide a programme of holistic care to the Residents of St Anne's.

COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS



To provide effective and efficient communication and working relationships with colleagues, Residents and the public.

Maintain an awareness of current issues within St. Anne's and impart information to colleagues, where appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED



Motivation to work with the elderly in a Care Home setting.

Commitment to continual development of skills and willingness to undertake further training including those skills and competencies relevant to the needs of the Residents.

Previous working experience within this speciality is required.

Sound interpersonal skills.

The ability to work well within a team situation.

The ability to maintain high standards of care within defined resources.

Sound communication skills, verbal and non-verbal, are essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 12.60 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
