We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Coordinator to organise engaging programmes and activities within a care home specialising in senior care. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful recreational and social activities, fostering a vibrant community environment. Experience in assisted living or nursing home settings, particularly with dementia and Alzheimer's care, is highly desirable. Duties
Develop, plan, and coordinate a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability, including dementia and Alzheimer's care.
Lead activity sessions such as arts and crafts, music therapy, games, outings, and special events that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all residents, respecting individual preferences and abilities.
Collaborate with care staff to assess residents' interests and needs, ensuring activities are personalised accordingly.
Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to evaluate programme effectiveness.
Organise community engagement events involving families and local organisations to enrich residents' social lives.
Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and promote resident safety at all times.
Provide training and support to staff members involved in activity facilitation when necessary.
Requirements
Proven experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments, particularly with senior care or dementia patients.
Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and dementia care best practices.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and team members.
Demonstrated organisational abilities to plan programmes that are both enjoyable and beneficial for residents' wellbeing.
Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through meaningful activities.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Relevant qualifications or certifications related to senior care or activity coordination are advantageous but not essential.
