Overview


We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of our senior residents, including those requiring dementia care. This role is crucial in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and promoting social interaction among residents.

Responsibilities



Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to ensure activities are well-attended and meet the interests of participants. Organise special events, outings, and themed days that encourage resident participation and enhance community spirit. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to adapt activities for residents with varying levels of ability and care requirements. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings. Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations within the care home environment. Train and supervise volunteers or activity aides who assist in delivering programmes.

Qualifications



Previous experience in an activities director role or similar position within assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred. A strong understanding of senior care principles, including dementia care practices. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with seniors. Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative programmes that promote resident engagement. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in planning events and activities. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Relevant qualifications in health care, social work, or recreational therapy are advantageous but not essential.

Pay: 12.30-13.00 per hour
