Reports to: Care Manager



Accountable to: Care Manager/General Manager



Job Purpose:



To organise activities that are tailored to individual needs and group activities to bring residents together.

General duties:



Deliver and arrange activities for residents that provide a stimulating environment.

Ensure that the residents' individual needs are met providing them with opportunities to use their skills and enhance the quality of their lives whilst maintaining privacy and independence.

Display a sensitive, caring and appropriate nature.

Motivate, encourage and participate in activities with residents.

Arrange photographs of activities and events that take place and supply the collated information to the manager.

Help residents maintain contact with family, friends and the community.

Talk and listen to residents in groups or 1:1 sessions.

Build and maintain a good relationship with residents and their families, displaying good communication and listening skills.

Observe and promote residents choice, independence, dignity and privacy at all times.

Maintain a professional conduct at all times.

Work effectively as part of a team, actively supporting other team members whilst also being motivated to work on own initiative and without direct supervision.

Participate in appropriate training and be committed to personal development.

Report any information, issues or concerns regarding the care and wellbeing of residents and staff to a senior member of management.

Work on a rolling shift pattern including alternate weekends, applying a flexible attitude to working hours( which may change from time to time depending on the needs of the service) especially in regards to covering absence and holidays including bank holidays, evenings and weekends.

Coordinate and produce an activity programme to include both one to one activities as well as group sessions.

Ensure that all residents are seen daily and that they are aware of( if this can be explained and understood) what is taking place that day.

Engage with residents and families and ensure that they are happy with the activities on offer.

Document all activities and interaction in the residents' daily record.

Training and development



Attend all supervisions and staff meetings organised by the Home; Undertake QCF training as required; Attend all trainings organized by the Home; when training is advertised, you are expected to attend; Non-attendance to mandatory trainings will impact on the employer's ability to retain you in employment. Adopt a clean and tidy appearance

Integrity and Professionalism



Maintain full, accurate, contemporaneous and legible records; Work collaboratively with all members of staff; Check the duty roster and follow allocations at all times; Notify the Home (by ringing 01787 374146) about any instances when you are not able to report for duty. Where this is possible, cancellations should be made 24-48 hours in advance. Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of the Home's operation, staff and its residents. Report to management any concerns or issues in a timely manner. Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home at all times.

Health and Safety



Contribute to effective and efficient use of resources including safe use, checking and maintenance of equipment; Ensure all emergencies, incidents, accidents and complaints are responded to and reported in accordance with the Home's policies and procedures; Keep up-to-date with the Home's development and changes; Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home at all times; Comply proactively with your duties and follow the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 as detailed in the Health and Safety policy of the Home. Undertake reasonable extra responsibilities as required.

Confidentiality



In the course of your duties, you will have access to confidential material about the residents, staff and the Home. You must not divulge any personal/confidential information via telephone or any other forms of electronic devices/social media. This includes not taking any pictures inside the premises on unauthorized devices such as personal mobiles or tables. You must not discuss any confidential information about the residents or about the Home outside Chilton Croft unless authorised to do so by the management. Breach of confidentiality will be taken seriously by the Home management.
