A confident, enthusiastic and creative person required to plan and implement appropriate in house activities on a one to one, small group or large group basis which stimulates and enhances the lives of residents.
Must have an upbeat, positive personality and be able to communicate well with all types of people, with a good understanding of different individual needs.
In conjunction with the senior team, you will be responsible for providing activity opportunities for our residents and be responsible for planning and running a Programme of activities for the residents linked to assessed social needs identified in care plans.
You will be responsible for maintaining and promoting activities that older people enjoy and find simulating.
To develop a good relationship with residents, relatives and staff.
To accompany residents on outings into the community on a monthly basis
Duties
Develop and implement diverse activity programmes tailored to the needs and interests of residents, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
Organise daily activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, outings, games, and special events
Foster social engagement by encouraging participation and facilitating group interactions
Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for individual health conditions and mobility levels
Monitor residents' responses to activities and adapt programmes accordingly to maximise enjoyment and participation
Maintain records of activities conducted and resident participation levels for reporting purposes
Promote a positive environment that supports residents' emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing
Assist in training staff or volunteers involved in activity facilitation as needed
Skills
Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments specialising in senior care
Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's care best practices
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members
Compassionate approach with the ability to motivate and inspire residents of varying cognitive abilities
Organised with excellent planning skills to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously
Ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs while maintaining a fun and inclusive atmosphere
Experience working within a care home setting is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with patience and professionalism
