Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our team at a leading care home. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents. This role is essential in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and ensuring that all residents, particularly those with dementia or other cognitive impairments, receive the appropriate care and attention they deserve.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents in nursing homes and assisted living settings. Assess residents' needs and preferences to create personalised activity plans that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement. Coordinate with staff to ensure activities are well-organised and adequately staffed. Facilitate group activities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and outings, ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities to continually improve offerings. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and encourage participation. Provide support for residents with dementia care needs, ensuring their comfort and engagement during activities. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate therapeutic activities into care plans as needed.

Skills

Proven experience in a similar role within a nursing home or assisted living environment is highly desirable. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with seniors and their families. A compassionate approach to senior care, with a deep understanding of the unique needs of elderly individuals, particularly those living with dementia. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Creativity in developing engaging programmes that cater to various interests and abilities among residents. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated when required.
