We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Activities Co-ordinator to join our team at a reputable care home specialising in the care of older adults. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for enhancing the quality of life for residents through engaging programmes and social activities. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. The Activities Co-ordinator will be responsible for planning, organising, and facilitating a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' needs and interests, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community environment.
Duties
Develop and implement diverse activity programmes that promote socialisation, mental stimulation, and physical wellbeing for residents.
Organise group outings, entertainment sessions, arts and crafts, music therapy, and other engaging events suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability.
Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess individual resident needs, ensuring activities are appropriate and beneficial.
Maintain detailed records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve programme offerings.
Foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere that encourages participation from all residents, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
Coordinate volunteers and external entertainers to enrich activity options.
Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and are conducted in a safe environment.
Requirements
Previous experience working in assisted living, a care home environments or senior care settings is highly desirable.
Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer's disease is essential to tailor activities effectively.
Strong communication skills to engage residents compassionately and collaborate with staff and families.
Experience in caregiving or care home roles will be advantageous.
Demonstrated organisational skills to plan schedules, manage resources, and maintain accurate documentation.
A genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older adults through meaningful engagement.
