We are seeking a warm, creative, and motivated Activity Coordinator to join our care home team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for enriching the lives of older adults--particularly those living with dementia at varying stages--through meaningful, person-centred social activities. Your role is to support residents in maintaining independence, purpose, and joy in their daily lives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and deliver
individualised, person-centred activity plans
tailored to each resident's needs, preferences, abilities, and health conditions.
Plan and facilitate a variety of
stimulating, engaging and therapeutic activities
that promote emotional wellbeing, cognitive function, social interaction, and positive daily experiences.
Adapt activities to meet the differing needs of residents, including those with dementia, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, or other health conditions.
Use creativity and "outside-the-box" thinking to design activities that spark interest, enjoyment, and connection.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity record care notes through our person-centred software, and reports using good IT skills and digital tools.
Work collaboratively with care staff, nurses, families, volunteers, and external entertainers to ensure activities complement residents' care plans.
Continuously assess and evaluate resident involvement, adjusting programmes to ensure they remain relevant and meaningful.
Support residents with encouragement, patience, and a
positive, cheerful approach

Promote inclusion, dignity, choice, and independence at all times.
Assist with planning special events, celebrations, and outings.
Ensure all activities are delivered in line with safeguarding, health & safety, and organisational policies.
Experience & Skills
Essential:
Genuine enthusiasm for supporting older adults and people living with dementia.
Good organisational and planning abilities, with flexibility to adapt quickly to changing needs.
Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff at all levels.
Happy, positive, and cheerful nature that encourages trust and participation.
Creative thinking and the ability to design activities that stimulate and provide positive emotional responses.
Good IT skills for planning, recording, and evaluating activity provision.
Desirable:
Experience working in a similar role within a care home, day centre, or dementia-care environment.
Training or knowledge in dementia awareness, activity provision, or therapeutic engagement.
