We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and compassionate
Activities Coordinator / Care Assistant
to join our team at The Lombrand, a mental health residential care home in Bridlington. This is a
permanent, part-time position (24-30 hours per week)
. Shifts are on a rotational basis, and you will be required to work mainly day and, occasional night shifts (1 to 2 shifts max per month), including some weekends and bank holidays.
The core focus of this role is to plan and deliver engaging activities that enrich the lives of our residents--both within the home and out in the community. Alongside this, you will provide support to the care team with daily duties and assist with night shift cover as per the rota.
Key Responsibilities - Activities & Engagement
(Primary Responsibility)
Plan, organise, and lead a varied programme of group and individual activities inside the home and on outdoor outings.
Encourage residents to take part in creative, physical, and social activities that promote wellbeing, independence, and social connection.
Escort residents into the community for trips, appointments, or events, ensuring safety and enjoyment.
Work closely with residents to understand their interests and adapt activities to their preferences and abilities.
Build positive relationships with residents, families, and the wider care team to create a welcoming, stimulating environment.
Care Assistant Duties
Support residents with daily living tasks, including personal care, dressing, and hygiene, always maintaining dignity and respect.
Assist with meal preparation and encourage residents to develop independent living skills.
Administer and record medications in line with policy and best practice.
Follow individual care plans to provide person-centred support.
Maintain accurate daily records, incident reports, and other documentation.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and homely atmosphere where residents feel valued and respected.
Support night staff with shift cover, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care as required by the rota.
Requirements
Experience in activity planning or care work is desirable, but full training will be provided.
Medication administration experience is essential.
Creative, outgoing, and passionate about supporting mental health and wellbeing.
Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work a rotating schedule of day and night shifts, including some weekends and bank holidays.
Strong communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
