Easteden Ltd is a leading health and social care provider operating four nursing/residential facilities in western Northern Ireland.
The post holder may, on occasion, be required to attend training sessions or team meetings in other locations or Easteden facilities.

Summary:



Full-time contract of 35 hours per week on a rotational basis. Hours may include weekends, public holidays and some evenings.

5.6 weeks holiday per annum, including Bank Holidays Work attire, excepting footwear

To contribute to the quality of life of our patients by organising a range of intellectual, social and physical activities under the guidance and supervision of the Home Manager and trained nursing staff and to undertake other activities to assist in the running of the Home as required.

Patient-Focused Responsibilities



To report immediately any concerns regarding the Protection of Vulnerable Adults to the Nurse-in-Charge or Home To report all accidents, untoward events or unexplained injuries to the Nurse-in-Charge. To refer all enquiries regarding the care or condition of patients to the trained nursing staff irrespective of the source of the To respect the rights of patients, including privacy and To participate in activities with patients and to use all interactions with patients as an opportunity for stimulation/occupation.

Home-Focused Responsibilities



To respond promptly to alerts from the nurse call To report to the Nurse-in-Charge any verbal concerns/complaints raised by patients/visitors. To assist in the cleaning of the Home as the need arises, particularly communal areas following activities, and to report matters requiring housekeeping or maintenance staff to the nurse-in-charge. To be familiar with the Infection Control policies and procedures and to support infection control measures as directed by trained nursing To respect the confidentiality of patients, other staff and the home life at all times and to comply with the Data Protection Act, including when using social networking To be resourceful in the use of materials and budget constraints To be aware of fire procedures and exit plans for all areas of the

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria



Caring and compassion for those with a physical disability mental health disorder or dementia and their representatives and families. Good oral communication skills. Ability to communicate with patients/residents, colleagues at all levels of seniority and families/visitors. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to empathise, maintain professionalism, display patience and politeness within a sometimes-pressurised environment. Good planning skill s. Ability to devise a schedule of activities and the confidence to bring it to fruition. Good administrative skills. Ability to develop appropriate paperwork and to maintain it in an orderly and easily-accessible fashion. A conscientious and flexible working style. Confidence to deal with difficult situations and to know when appropriate to seek guidance from senior staff. Drive and enthusiasm with a desire to update knowledge and skill set as required. Good team working skills and an ability to work with minimal supervision. Availability for work that may include days/nights, weekends and public holidays. An ability to undertake light manual labour.

Desirable Criteria



Experience of/skill in arts, crafts, sports/exercise coaching. Please indicate the range of such skills and experience you would bring to this post. Experience/knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Outlook. Experience of working with older people in a nursing home or other formal setting. NVQ (Level 2 or 3) in Health and Social Care. Please indicate both the level of study and whether part or fully qualified. Training in mental health disorder and/or dementia care. An understanding of the concerns and issues regarding the care of those with dementia or mental health disorder. An understanding of the issues regarding the Protection of Vulnerable Adults. Working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation. A full and clean driving license.
