We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activity Co-ordinator to energize and enrich the lives of 15 residents in our Rehabilitation Unit. This vital role involves planning, organizing, and leading engaging social and meaningful activities tailored to the interests and needs of patients with brain injury. The Activity Co-ordinator will foster a lively, inclusive environment that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neurological patients while working within a supportive rehabilitation team dedicated to promote independence, function and quality of life.
Duties
To work under the direction of the Lead Therapist for planning and organising activities that enhance the quality of life, independence and function of service-users who reside in the GNCC.
To work as an integral member of the Rehabilitation Service providing effective support to Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, Physiotherapy assistant, Nurses, carers and any other team members.
To work with service-user undertaking therapy/rehabilitation programmes to support and encourage them to achieve their optimum level of independence and quality of life, as directed by Lead Therapist.
To work with service-users in a range of locations, including day centre, headways, and the community with overall supervision from rehabilitation professional.
To organise social activities (such as birthday, social events, community outings, national events) for service-users and embrace person-centre approach and social inclusion.
Experience
Proven experience in event planning or recreational programming within clinical and care settings
Strong understanding of brain injury care preferred.
Excellent communication skills for engaging residents, families, and team members effectively
Knowledge of assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as mobility, community access, and personal hygiene tasks
Ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Background in social work or recreational therapy is advantageous for developing holistic activity programs
