Main Duties:
1. To act as a staff member within Colin Sure Start's additional support children's programme (currently title Little Rainbows) and to provide a safe, stimulating and varied programme of play and learning opportunities for children participating in this programme.
2. To promote the holistic development of children and to work in the interest of children at all times, while ensuring the maintenance and improvement of a welcoming child centred environment.
3. To contribute to the development of plans, activities and the play environment aimed at targeting specific learning needs of children in the Little Rainbows additional support programme and any other programme required to work in.
4. To promote and encourage targeted parental/carer engagement within the programme, develop supportive relationships with parents/carers and carry out home visits together with the Additional Needs Service Lead as and when required.
5. To engage fully in supervision meetings and any other meetings with the Additional Needs Service Lead or ELC in relation to the running of the programme, including any performance monitoring and appraisals.
6. To carry out and contribute to observations, assessments and individual plans for the individual needs and capacities of the children within the programme, and to contribute to the recording and monitoring of the programme together with the Additional Needs Service Lead.
7. To ensure good standards of hygiene and safety and observe all relevant
health and safety rules and guidelines, and working with the Additional Needs Service Lead to ensure that the setting is appropriately prepared before the session commences and is tidied up after the session ends, that the setting is kept clean and resources are in good working order
8. To ensure confidentiality of information relating to children and families at all times.
9. To comply with Sure Start policies and procedures and be aware of and work in accordance with relevant legislation at all times.
10. To participate in induction and training programmes, meetings and supervision as required.
