The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented and proven Loss Adjuster/Quantity Surveyor to join our Construction & Engineering team. Ideally candidates should be based in Home Counties/Midlands and able to travel to our London office periodically for meetings/team working with other members of the Construction & Engineering team.

Reporting to the Head of the Construction & Engineering Loss Practice you will be responsible for providing surveyor support to our Lead Construction Adjusters on major losses involving construction projects. The role will involve projects and claims throughout the UK and on occasion you will be expected to travel to conduct inspections or meetings. Dependant on experience you may be charged with handling a small portfolio of claims in a lead adjuster/surveyor.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating and commenting on quantum on constructed related losses, working with loss adjusters and clients/ third parties surveyors, cost consultants and commercial managers/directors
  • Leading and supporting others on contractual analysis and comment, considering construction defects and damage issues, liaising on other construction related aspects that may involve working with programme delay analysts, accountants and solicitors
  • Completing on site investigations, surveys and meetings for claims
  • Investigating, negotiating and agreeing settlement of claims in a professional manner
  • Assisting with producing reports in compliance with professional standards and internal guidelines in accordance with agreed timescales
  • Actively contribute towards McLarens\xe2\x80\x99 business development programme
  • Network, identify and facilitate opportunities for business growth
  • Undertaking projects and other ad hoc work as required.
About You

Successful candidates must be professionally surveyor qualified surveyor and have gained significant experience in the commercial construction and / or loss adjusting sectors. Demonstrate a focus on quality, communication and organisational skills. They will have proven capability in negotiation, decision making and problem-solving, coupled with strong stakeholder management. An ability to develop strong relationships both internally and externally is imperative. Experience of working in a team environment to tight deadlines and a proven, positive reputation in the insurer and broker market would be advantageous.

Due to the geographic coverage of the role travel will be required.
