20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm)

NJC SCP 11 - 28,142 (pro-rata) / 14.58 per hour

Clerk to Glen Parva Parish Council
Special factors:
There will be a requirement to attend occasional evening meetings and to attend occasional events outside of normal working hours.
Job Purpose:
To provide effective and efficient administrative support to Glen Parva Parish Council, assisting in the smooth day-to-day running of Parish business and services. The postholder will work as part of a small team, dealing with a variety of administrative tasks and public enquiries to support the Council's work in serving the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration and Clerical Support
Provide general administrative support including word processing, filing, photocopying, and record keeping.
Draft and format letters, reports, agendas, minutes and other documents as required.
Assist with the organisation and administration of Parish Council meetings, events and projects.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper-based records and databases.
Understand the implications of GDPR regulations and handle information appropriately to ensure the confidentiality of records and information is maintained.
Communication and Community Engagement
To provide an effective service as the first point of contact for enquiries.
Deal professionally and courteously with telephone calls, emails and face-to-face enquiries from the public, Councillors and external organisations.
Provide accurate information or refer queries to the appropriate person.
Support the Parish Council's communication channels, including updating the website, noticeboards and social media platforms.
To positively promote the Council and its work within the community.
Financial and Booking Support
Assist the Clerk with accurately processing and maintaining financial records, including handling invoices, purchase orders, and receipts in line with financial procedures.
Manage hall bookings and hire arrangements.
Teamwork and Flexibility
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
Undertake other duties as required which are commensurate with the post and support the efficient operation of the Parish Office.
To make enquiries with suppliers and seek quotes for works as directed by the Clerk.
