3 Month Contract, with the possibility of an extension

37 hours per week

Job Purpose:



To provide high-quality administrative, business support and management information services to the designated team or service area, ensuring effective and efficient day-to-day operations through accurate data handling, proactive support and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:



Operate and maintain relevant financial systems, ensuring compliance with Newport City Council's policies and procedures. Identify and recover overpayments, and agree repayment plans within a set framework. Acquire goods and services through authorised procurement channels. Manage payments using an NCC credit card in line with internal guidance. Collect, manage, verify, and report on performance data using various systems. Liaise with colleagues, managers, and partner agencies to share information and provide advice. Act as the first point of contact for the team, handling queries and offering guidance where appropriate. Organise meetings including diary management, taking accurate minutes, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed. Provide administrative support for service projects and initiatives. Safeguard IT equipment and data in accordance with NCC's data protection and ICT security policies. Undertake additional duties and adapt flexibly to meet service requirements.

Person Specification:Qualifications:



Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent OR Substantial and relevant administrative experience in an office environment (Essential) CLAIT, ECDL or similar IT qualification (Desirable)

Knowledge:



Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook (Essential) Understanding of Data Protection principles (Essential) Knowledge of Social Services and local government environment (Desirable)

Experience:



Administrative or financial experience within an office environment (Essential) Proven minute-taking experience (Essential) Experience handling financial information or processing payments (Essential) Previous local authority or Social Services experience (Desirable)
