WHISH - Whitby Hidden Impairments Support & Help is an established registered charity which supports over 200 children & young people in the Whitby & Esk Valley rural area who have a disability or Hidden Impairment. WHISH provides: activities for children & teenagers; multi-sensory room; information & support for families; training for parents & professionals; parent support groups; family outings.
Growth in the number of beneficiaries and our range of activities and services in 2024 has led to the need for additional administrative support. This position is for someone who wants to make a difference to local families by providing an excellent admin service.
The Admin Assistant supports the smooth running of WHISH by carrying out day-to-day administrative tasks, organising events and bookings, supporting fundraising activities, and maintaining good communication with members, volunteers, and the public. This role is essential for delivering a welcoming and efficient experience for all users and requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds, including participants, volunteers and partners.
Duties to include:
WHISH is looking to appoint additional administrative support on a limited term contract, renewable depending on available funding.
The post requires an efficient and well organised administrative assistant to undertake day-to-day duties in the WHISH Hub, Multi-sensory centre and Community room.
The post-holder should have :
a working knowledge of Microsoft word, and use of social media.
good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise their work.
a patient approach with a variety of service users
access to a vehicle ( expenses paid )
a knowledge of the local area
an understanding of disabilities / Hidden Impairments would be beneficial
Duties will include:
monitoring and upkeep of facilities, e.g. sensory room
preparation of displays & noticeboards,
mail outs, database input, record keeping
filing & other general administrative duties,
engagement with members through face to face, social media and email
