This role provides the opportunity for hybrid working, dividing working times approximately equally between home and the County Hall, Block B Office in Taunton. The exact division of time will be subject to manager approval and the working profile adopted and tasks being undertaken. This role is a

fixed term contract

initially for 6 months to cover long term sickness absence. This role is for

22.2 hours

per week, ideally spread over 3, 4 or 5 days


What will I be doing?



We're working to improve the lives of people in Somerset - and you'll be a key part of that. As an Administrator, otherwise known as a Senior Business Support Assistant,, you will be providing administrative support to the Service Manager and Senior Engineers/Team Leaders within our Highways - Bridges and Structures team.



Your day-to-day work will involve:


Processing Abnormal Load Notifications (Typically 75% of workload) Processing Monthly Applications for Payments for works contracts (Typically 25% of workload) Monitoring and actioning the teams email accounts (As required) Triaging Enquiries in the Confirm System (As required) Data Entry on Structures Management System (As required) Preparing Inspection packs for our inspectors (As required) Assist with operating the Office Buddy System (As required)

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?



We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:


5 GCSE's/ NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent, including Maths and English. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to prioritise conflicting work demands and deadlines. Experience working in an office environment and/or administration role. The ability to work productively and unaided from home. The ability to use software that has GIS interaction or interfaces Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications, in particular Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and SharePoint.

The salary for the role is Grade 14, ranging from 14,642 to 15,109 per annum for 22.2 hours per week.
