Job Description

Overview


To undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team and including:

Job Responsibilities:

Production of repeat prescriptions received by telephone, email, paper, online or request in person by patients or pharmacies on patients' behalf, ensuring accuracy and compliance with repeat prescription protocol. Ensure Auto-Repeat Prescriptions are issued accurately and in a timely manner, setting up and monitoring and amending as appropriate. Liaise with local pharmacies. Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers. Alert the Practice Manager or GPs of any problems arising from prescription requests and production. Maintain practice stock of all types of prescriptions, keep accurate records of named prescription pads received and issued and records of receipt, issue, and destruction of FP10MDA (blue scripts). Ensure records updated and prescriptions issued in accordance with Oral Contraceptive Pill Protocol. Ensure incoming post is processed effectively, clarifying, and chasing incoming post when necessary. Ensure Dossette box prescriptions are processed. Shared care agreements. DOAC/DMard bloods (booking and loading). Auditing late medication/inappropriate telephone requests. Care home monthly medication. Medication shortages/MHRA alerts. Processing new patient set ups. Booking and organising injections (Xgeva/Denosumab/B12 etc). Ensure security of data in accordance with the Data Protection Act. To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice Procedures. To work in accordance with written protocols. Any other duties commensurate with skills and responsibilities.

In the performance of the duties outlined in this , the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential. Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others' health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:

Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks. Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills. Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards Reporting potential risks identified

Communicate effectively with other team members. Communicate effectively with patients and carers. Recognise people's needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly.

Contribution to the Implementation of Services:



The post-holder will:

Apply Practice policies, standards, and guidance. Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work. Participate in audits where appropriate.

Pay: From 12.21 per hour
