Job Summary



Paddock Wood Town Council is hiring a detail-oriented and motivated

Administrative Officer

to support its operations. This is a

part-time, office-based

role ideal for someone with strong administrative skills who enjoys working in a small team and contributing to the local community.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to council officers and councillors

Assist with community projects and events (e.g. Remembrance Sunday, Christmas lights)

Assist in the maintenance of the Council's website and social media channels (training provided)

Manage bookings for football pitches and halls using Scribe 2000 (training provided)

Support allotment management using Scribe 2000

Prepare and distribute Council and Committee meeting papers using SharePoint

Occasionally attend evening meetings to provide administrative cover

Maintain office supplies, filing systems, and notice boards

Answer calls and emails; liaise with councillors, residents, and suppliers

Ensure defibrillators and first aid kits are stocked and up to date

Undertake relevant training as required

Requirements

Essential:

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks

Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

Comfortable dealing with the public

Desirable:

Experience with specialist systems (e.g. Scribe 2000, SharePoint)

Previous work in a local government or public service setting

Benefits

12.45 - 13.05 per hour (based on experience)

23 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata)

Pension: 10% employer contribution via Aviva
