Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
to join us in delivering exceptional care to our patients.
Job Summary
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will work autonomously and in collaboration with our GP team to assess, diagnose, and treat patients across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, managing your own patient caseload, and contributing to the smooth operation of the surgery.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct advanced clinical assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic investigations.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, prescribing medications independently as per your qualifications.
Provide health promotion, disease prevention advice, and support for patients with long-term conditions.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood tests, X-rays) as appropriate.
Work collaboratively with GPs, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records using our clinical system (e.g., EMIS or SystmOne).
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Support minor illness and injury clinics, including triage and same-day appointments.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior clinical staff where appropriate.
Stay up to date with clinical guidelines, best practices, and professional development requirements.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Registered Nurse (RN) with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
MSc or Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent).
Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (V300).
Significant experience working as an ANP in primary care or a similar setting.
Proficiency in managing acute and chronic conditions in a primary care environment.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Competent in using clinical IT systems (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne).
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience in a GP surgery or primary care setting in the UK.
Knowledge of local healthcare pathways and services in Leighton Buzzard/Bedfordshire.
Training or experience in areas such as minor surgery, family planning, or chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD).
Leadership or mentorship experience.
