Job Description

We are a friendly, busy, and Outstanding CQC-rated rural GP Practice serving 6,000 patients across our two sites. We are seeking an experienced, autonomous, and highly motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Prescriber) to join our supportive clinical team.

This is a dynamic role combining Advanced Clinical Practice with Leadership responsibility for our nursing team.

Responsibilities Include:



Autonomous Clinical Practice:

Manage a defined clinical caseload, providing first-contact care for patients presenting with acute minor illness, minor injuries, and complex/undifferentiated needs in a primary care setting.

Team Leadership:

Line management and clinical supervision of the nursing team (Practice Nurses and Trainees), driving high standards of care, and contributing to clinical governance within the practice.

Long-Term Condition Management:

Use advanced clinical skills to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with a range of long-term and complex conditions.

Prescribing:

Independently prescribe in line with your professional registration and practice policy.

Quality & Training:

Participate actively in our training practice environment, mentoring staff and contributing to excellent QOF achievement.

About the candidate



Qualifications



Active NMC Registration and PIN

Evidence of meeting NMC Requirements for Advanced Practice

Independent Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification

Experience



Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in a General Practice, Urgent Care, or equivalent primary/community care setting.

Demonstrable experience in autonomous nurse-led management of minor illness, minor ailments, and injuries.

Recent experience in a primary care nursing management/leadership role is desirable.

Completion of the General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme or equivalent is desirable.

Knowledge & Skills



Expert application of advanced clinical assessment, examination, and diagnostic reasoning skills.

Proven leadership, mentoring, and line management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Self-directed and highly motivated practitioner

Proven experience in managing clinical review cycles for long-term conditions (e.g., Asthma, COPD, Diabetes) is desirable.

Familiarity with the SystmOne clinical system (full training provided) is desirable.

Our clinical team comprises 2 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 2 GP Trainees, 2 ANPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Associated Trainee Nurse and 1 HCA.
