Take the lead and make a difference for disabled children
As an Advanced Practitioner in our Children with Disabilities team, you'll support children and families facing complex challenges, offering care and guidance when it matters most. This is a chance to lead by example - sharing your knowledge, building trust and working alongside a dedicated team that's been rated 'outstanding' for the impact it makes every day.
Working Style:
You'll be based in the office for 4 days a week, working one day a week at home, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.
What you'll be doing:
You'll join a small, collaborative team of five social workers and a Systemic Psychotherapist, which is a part of Bi Borough Disabled Children Service. Working with children who have complex needs, you'll lead Child in Need, Child Protection and care proceedings cases - supporting families with sensitivity and professionalism.
This role blends high-quality frontline practice with mentorship. You'll coach and support less experienced colleagues, contribute to service development and play a lead role in shaping good practice across the department.
You'll also assess parenting capacity, ensuring that the voices of children - especially those who are non-verbal - are heard and reflected in the support they receive. Working closely with health and education partners, you'll be part of a wider professional network committed to helping families thrive.

What you'll bring
You'll be a registered Social Worker with at least three years' post-qualifying experience in children's services - ideally with a background in supporting disabled children and their families.
You'll have a strong understanding of the legislation related to children and families, safeguarding frameworks and best practice in statutory children's social care. You'll be confident managing complex cases and making decisions in high-pressure situations, always putting children's needs first.
Communication is key. Whether you're writing assessments or speaking with families and professionals, you'll be clear, compassionate and able to build trust. Just as importantly, you'll be a team player with a positive outlook, ready to bring energy and empathy to a hard-working, values-led team.
